Those of us lucky enough to be owned by a galgo (or two) will be the first ones to tell you how much like - and how different - they are from their American cousin the greyhound. I like to say they are the greyhound's crazy country cousins - you get the grace, beauty and dignity of the greyhound with a splash of silly, amazingly agile high jumping, poking, demanding, thieving craziness! I love my greyhounds and galgos equally, and couldn't imagine life without either!

First, let me say I'm thrilled that we now have a galgo forum! Yay! Second, I couldn't agree more with your description of them, Abby. So far I've had the honor and pleasure of being owned by two galgos, Irys & Cruz.

Irys now waits for me at Bridge, but brought a transforming love and joy into my life. Shy, beautiful, demanding, athletic, consumate comedienne, mi corazon (my heart). Be warned, I can talk about her endlessly.

Cruz has been with me about 15 months. Nothing shy about my Cruzito! He leaps, he twirls, he dances, he sings. Yes, he makes sounds I've never heard a dog make! He's SO funny and such a big time "mama's boy".

I look forward to hearing about everyone's galgos!

Also this forum is SUCH a great idea and the website is beautiful.

Your galgos are also quite stunning. I can't wait to hear all the amazing stories everyone has.
