Introduction from me and the boys! 2007/11/04 07:02
Hi everyone here. I thought a small introduction might help seeing as I have just subscribed here.
My name is Hilary ( Hil for short)and I was born 42 yrs ago in the UK.At the age of 18 I moved to Holland under great protest from my parents hahahaa.

I have always loved the greys and sighthounds since I was small and always had a wish to own such a dog.

I set up a small organisation here in Holland almost 3 yrs ago to rehome workingdogs, so something completly different to the sighthounds. The reason for doing so was the huge "market" and the ammount of advertisments for the sheps and huntingdogs that were being put on the internet by people looking for homes for their dogs. The problem was, seeing there is a " enormous market" for these dogs, the dogs were disapearing under false pretences to the dealers who were out to make a quick buck and the dogs were being sold on without the owner knowing It made me so mad that members of the general public were left completly panicking and having nightmares as to where their dog had gone. And so I decided to set something up that at least some dogs would be rehomed in the right way and that the owner of the rehome dog would have a say in where their dog would go.

Through my work I came in contact with GINN (greyhound in nood nederland)seeing as there were also sheps in Scooby that were looking for homes and I was asked if my website could be used to help get them some added attention . Scooby? but what is Scooby I asked. I'd never heard of them.

To cut a long story short,
Well one thing went from another and I now own two beautiful but traumatised galgo boys. Arlo who was known as Neto at Scooby came to us in Jan 2007. Oh my when I saw him there at the dutch shelter in Nederweert, I couldnt believe how scared he was.........and certainly of men! He has come around really well now and he's still insecure around men but he has changed so much. I'm still amazed that these wonderful dogs never seem to lose their faith in us humans.
Rique who was known as Riquelme at Scooby came to us the end of June of this year. Rique was even more traumatised than Arlo, but even after a few months he is also coming around to being a happy and playfull dog.
When both dogs have setteld and have the time they need to get back on their feet so to speak Im sure we will adopt another galgo or grey in the future.

Here two photo's of our adorable boys!
Arlo

Rique

Hil, your boys are beautiful. Did I see a video on YouTube with Riquelme? I saw one with a galgo that I think was him # it was so beautiful and moved me to tears.

I have male galgo, Cruz. He came to the US from SOS Galgos in the fall of 2005. I adopted him in March 2006. He's such a quirky, funny boy. I'm attempting to attach a picture of him.

I think it could be the same Rique yes , here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyzfb0EyaQs so its probably the same film seeing as it brought me to tears too when my boyfriend finished it Your boy Cruz is beautiful ....what a great name also. I just love those lil spots all over him. Rique also has those spots on his stomach and has really baby hair still. He gets cold quickly. Does Crutz have the same problem?

thx for that lovely photo of you boy. Do you have some more of him?

greetings Hil
