Leishmania 2007/11/13 17:37
Hi guys - I'm a small animal vet in Denver working with Galgos - does anyone know where I can get my hands on the Idexx Leishmania SNAP kit?

Thanks,
Mike Herman

Hi Mike, Not very much help here but I put it through Goggle and also had a problem finding a supplier. Maybe an idea to contact IDEXX themselves to find out who there suppliers are?

http://www.idexx.co.uk/animalhealth/testkits/leishmania/

you may be able to get one imported if there are no suppliers in the US ( which would surprise me though)

greetings Hil

Thanks - my plan is to bug the Idexx rep until they find some for me.

always the best move. I have also put the question on another forum. A lot of people from the US are on it and some vet techs etc so you never know. If anything comes up I will post it here for you.

gr Hil

Hello Mike
we use the IDEXX snap in Spain but pls be aware, it is not 100% save as a testing kit, severe other mediterranean (tick)diseases like babesia, rickettia, ehrliquia -lyme or vaccinations shortly before the test have caused with our dogs false positives.
on the other hand, we never had false negatives and our vet tested over 3000 galgos and many other dogs with the IDEXX.
if you have problemas getting the kits in the us, let me know and we put you in contact with the spanish distributor

have a nice day and thanks for caring for the hounds!

Thanks so much for the info - I can do the Babesia, ehrlichia and lyme testing here in the states, but right now I have to send leishmania to one of the universities, and it's very expensive. I would love to talk to a Spanish Idexx distributor.
Gracias,

Mike
