14 galgos in the killingstation Cordoba!! 2008/03/14 00:18
hello from spain
here our news as we have taken in 14 galgos from Cordoba in a joint-venture with some private animalists near cordoba and barcelona and on march 21st, already 4 of them are going to germany and france.

All 14 dogs came out of the killingstation in cordoba and were due to be euthanized nearly immediatly as the dogs have been brought in by the hunters no deadline for the extermination was needed. ALI, a very couragous lady saw the dogs and made a call for help and in a moment of "absolut carzyness" I told her to reserve all 14 for us. Merce, my dear friend from Girona, also stepped in and is fostering, transporting and homing dogs here in Spain.
all galgos were in perfect shape, most of them even chipped and vaccinated and even like that, the veterinary, a very hard lady it seems, had descided to eleminate all of the dogs, With a bit of luck and as ALI's father has a good link to the mayor of he city, the veterinary could be stopped very last minute.

Between BULLETIN DE LEVRIERS FRANCE (a fabulous woman named Barbara Lefranc and her team, they home our galgos in France)m PRO-GALGO UK (preparing 2 of the cordob dogs for quarantaine), PRO-GALGO GERMANY (homing the dogs in germany) and some private helpers here in Spain and in Germay we hope to be able to home our doggies soon.

slideshow of the dogs http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/bb304/ggejl/?action=view¤t=d563618c.pbw

this month we have managed to home 13 dogs, 7 galgos and 6 mixes from the Linares shelter and from Murcia and have participated in 2 protest marches (of course with your banner) and have worked as fosters (i have 22 dogs at home until the transport on the 21st)

if you want to help us to help the hounds, pls foster, adopt or donate to paypal: pro-galgo AT total-barcelona.com

thanks for caring!

Beatiful dogs Mo all of them.....Looking at the slideshow, the dogs to seem to be in very good health as you described in your post. I cannot for the life of me imagine how anybody would euthanise 14 healthy dogs. Good that you stepped in and took them all.

Velour is a very handsome boy..I hope he finds his forever home soon, and of course his two black friends. He and the others are very lucky dogs. Thank god for the rescue organisations..

You do a great job Mo!!

Seeing as I just caught up on this post which was a few weeks ago, is there any news on how the dogs are doing now? Did they go on the transport already?

greetings Hil

Yesterday was a special day for us, the swiss movie director KERSTIN ALBERS came to visit us and her galgo-girl GRETA (one of the cordoba dogs will be siss soon)

KERSTIN had so much fun with our dogs and GRETA loved her! They will make a movie like couple

Meet GRETA on this video on my sofa ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkjS_X3u4FY

she is such a nice doggy, small, rouh haired and very playfull even as she was supposed to be "shy" ... she is running like crazy in the fields and loves to play with our irish wolfhound pup NILO.

KERSTIN enjoyed the visit and the dogs loved her and the goodies she brought.
June 1st, KERSTIN will come back to pick-uo GRETA and to fly her back to the country of cheese, watches and chocolate

MCUHAS GRACIAS KERSTIN!
