Hidalgo's Journey PDF Print E-mail

Hidalgo - Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN)UPDATE! Hidalgo - now known as Carlos - has finally found his forever home. Carlos is a loving galgo, and his personality is really coming out.  He is playing like a little puppy and seems surprised at himself when he becomes playful.  He is a mellow boy most of the time just wanting to put his head in your lap and look at you with that one sweet eye!  The other eye will eventually have peripheral vision with a small cloudy spot in the middle but he is really fine.  Carlos likes playing with his foster brother greyhound Avi, and plays like a boxer with him... it is very fun to watch.  He will make a wonderful companion for his lucky new mom and we are grateful that Carlos was sent half way across the world, at just the right time… continue to be blessed, my boy… (updated by Telma and Mike Shaw, Carlos' foster parents).

On November 20, the Galgo Rescue International Network received a very special galgo from the Scooby Refuge in Medina Del Campo, Spain.  Hidalgo had recently been rescued by the people at Scooby and was emaciated, covered with sores, and had a very serious corneal ulcer.   His story is one of amazingly good fortune, everything fell into place for him to come to the US and receive the care he needed, and now he is looking for his forever home. He will be available for adoption in California or the surrounding area soon.

Isleta (aka Marta) PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 13 June 2007
Isletta - adopted galgo - Galgo Rescue International Network Isleta is indeed a "little island".  She is a tiny, shy, black and white,
galga who arrived from Spain in April 2007.  When she first arrived, she was
so shy that she would eat only one bite of food, then retreat to be sure all
was ok, then return to her bowl for the next bite.  After only a few months,
Izzy has made remarkable progress.  She is often the first one to finish her
food and her eyes no longer show fear or worry.   Izzy loves to snuggle with
her humans and is often found sharing a dog bed or couch with a galgo or
greyhound sibling.  However, when strangers, particularly men, are in the
house, she heads to her safe place.  Izzy has the loudest bark for the
smallest dog and uses it to let everyone know whenever the UPS man pulls up
to the driveway.  Izzy absolutely hates the cold.  A viewpoint shared by her
greyhound sister, Moxie.

Daisy Face - adopted galgo - Galgo Rescue International Network We don't know much about Daisy Face's history before coming to the US. She was chosen right before the rescue mission in February 2007 to stand in the place of Bita, a sweet Irish greyhound who died of cancer before she could make the trip to the US. Daisy Face was adopted by a wonderful lady and her husband who, sadly, passed away a week after Daisy Face's arrival. Daisy Face has been a blessing to her family and is very loved.

Elly PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 June 2007

Elly - adopted galgo - Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN)Little is known about Elly prior to her Scooby days. She was rescued from a poorly-run sanctuary in Valladolid along with a great many other galgos. After arriving at Scooby it became apparent that she was not cut out for shelter life - for some reason the other dogs picked on her unmercifully! So she was chosen to take the fast track to the US where she was adopted by a wonderful family in Washington. Other than the pesky habit of eating stuffed animals, Elly is the perfect girl!
