Kona

Kona UPDATE! Kona has found his forever home! An active setting would be best and Kona craves attention from both his human and canine companions. He currently lives with a cat and is cat-safe. Kona is a very sweet and charming boy, slightly shy at first but warms up quickly. If you are interested in adopting Kona, please email christie@galgorescue.org. Kona is currently living in Colorado.

Kona's history: Kona was found with his mother hidden in a hole in the ground that had been covered with a board, a common method gypsies use to "secure" their dogs. Kona was very bonded to his mother (having been with her long after weaning), and still seeks the comfort of female galgos. His mother, Christiane (now Maggie) came to the United States in April 2007.

Noodles (aka Quique)

Noodles (aka Quique)Noodles is a very special boy with an incredible story. In January 2005, Scooby received an emergency call - barking could be heard coming from a deep well! Scooby enlisted the help of the local fire/rescue team and extracted five dogs from the bottom of the well where they had been dumped and left to die by their former owner. Scooby pursued the case in court and in the end, the former owners were punished - a landmark case for Scooby and Spain, and a huge step for Noodles - he was now free to go to a home!

Noodles came to the US in June 2005 as part of the "24 Paws Across the Ocean" rescue mission. The sweet wirehaired boy was adopted by a loving family and now enjoys the good life in Colorado!

Yoda

YodaYoda, known as Ruben II at Scooby, is not only the G.R.I.N. posterboy, but also a wise and wonderful gentleman. Abby Christman met him at Scooby in February 2006 and requested he make the June trip to the US.

Upon his arrival in the US, Yoda met and instantly fell in love with his new mom, a G.R.I.N. member. He lives happily in his home on the Eastern Slope of Colorado!

Francesca

FrancescaFrancesca's story before coming to Scooby is unknown.  Abby Christman found Francie at Scooby in February 2006 and just knew this sweet, fuzzy-faced girl needed to find her forever home.  So Francie became a part of the "Return To Paradise" rescue mission and flew back to the US where she was greeted by her new loving mom, board member Bev McInis, and the rest of the McInis family. Francie quickly stole everyone's heart and is a very special member of her family.  Bev tells tales of her silliness, including the trademark galgo grunting and moaning we who share their lives have come to love.

Prisa (aka Laura aka Scamp)

Prisa (aka Laura aka Scamp)Prisa, known as Laura in her Scooby days, is a very special girl with an incredible story.  In January 2005, Scooby received an emergency call - barking could be heard coming from a deep well! Scooby enlisted the help of the local fire/rescue team and extracted five dogs from the bottom of the well where they had been dumped and left to die by their former owner.  Scooby pursued the case in court and in the end, the former owners were punished - a landmark case for Scooby and Spain, and a huge step for Prisa - she was now free to go to a home!

Board member Judy Greenfield had followed the case of the well dogs closely.  The very morning the five were saved from the well, Judy had to let one of her beloved hounds go to the Rainbow Bridge.  She felt an incredible bond with ALL the well dogs, but particularly Prisa.  When Fermin Perez of Scooby announced that she would be coming to the US, there was no doubt in our minds where her forever home would be!
