Troya the Survivor

Christopher Plaskett January 21, 2013
Troya Waiting For Her Chance

I want to say that this rescue business is full of ups and downs. One minute you are crying, as in the case of little Jade who just passed away,  the next I am jumping for joy because I have a way for Troya to come to the USA! Do you remember Troya? She had bee...n thrown between two walls, left to die...was skin and bones, huge skin leisons all over her body apparently from her struggle to free herself, cold, hungry, dehydrated, all alone, stiff from not being able to move..Who would find her in this unimaginable situation? Well Troya had some angels looking after her..she was found and taken out of that hell.

Troya After Rescued from her hell

She came to Silvia of Galgo Connecton Spain, the vets worked hard to help her and they honestly thought she might not make it. But Troya had a will to live. And now she is recovering from what was supposed to be the end for her, no thanks to some hunters who left her for dead..anyway there are some dogs I just can't get out of my mind..Troya was one..I hoped for a great opportunity  for her and my prayers were answered this week. I am so happy to say that Troya will be coming to the US in April being taken in by our friends Grateful Greyhounds of NY..Thank you Lisa Sallie and supporters for reaching out to make it happen..Troya will now live the life every galgo deserves and her little scarred body will be a constant reminder of how hard life is in Spain for the galgos and podencos. Thank you Silvia and GGS...and Troya we send you all our love until you come. GRIN.

Troya Recovering In Spain

Please check out this You Tube that was shown on Spanish Tele about Troya and Galgo Connection Spain..It is in Spanish but the images tell the story of the care given to the worse cases taken on by Silvia and Team GCS in Valencia. Dr. Cesar Lara is the attending Vet and works along with GCS to save these deserving dogs and help them onto new lives..

Galgo Rescue International Network

Galgo Rescue International Network

Dedicated to the welfare of the Spanish Galgo and Sighthounds worldwide.

Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization run entirely by volunteers that was founded to establish a relationship between the animal shelters in Spain and animal lovers in the United States and around the world.  Our love of Greyhounds and concern for their plight drew us to their cousins — the galgos.

Working closely with Spanish shelters, GRIN raises awareness of the Spanish Greyhound's plight through international educational campaigns and fundraising.  We also aid shelters and assist with adoptions for rehomed sighthounds in the U.S. with the primary goals being to provide practical help and supplies to the Spanish shelters and to inspire change in the treatment of the Galgo Espnaõl and the Podenco through public informational and educational campaigns.
