A HAPPY END FOR NEGRO/CHANCE

Christopher Plaskett July 30, 2011

THANKS GOES OUT TO G.R.I.N SUPPORTERS FOR HELPING A SENIOR GALGO NAMED NEGRO NOW KNOWN AS CHANCE.

Back in March 2011 we received emails with pictures of a senior galgo who had been taken to the kill station because some hunter deemed him useless, worn out, and old.  The pictures of Negro sitting dejected and sad with little hope was compelling. Why should he meet this end? We are sure he must have been loyal to his master or he would not have lasted so long, but this was now the thanks he got. It was truly heartbreaking to see him there.  Word went out and although our website was down his story was told through emails and Negro got his "Chance". He was transferred into the care of Galgo Connection Spain in Valencia coming for the Jerez kill station. His struggles continued despite his rescue. Because of malnutrition he had suffered  he sucummed to first one bout of torsion, had emergency surgery and again weeks later another episode. Poor Chance, what would happen to this senior in need? See below!

HOME AT LAST FOR CHANCE!

WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THROUGH GALGO CONNECTION SPAIN, CHANCE,  AFTER MONTHS  OF RECOUPERATION, FOUND HIS PARADISE IN EUROPE. WE THANK EVERYONE INVOLVED IN HIS RESCUE, CARE, REHABILITATION AND TO HIS NEW ADOPTERS FOR GIVING THIS DESERVING BOY HIS "CHANCE " AND HIS FOREVER HOME!

NOW WE ARE DOING A HAPPY DANCE AS WELL!!

Galgo Rescue International Network

Dedicated to the welfare of the Spanish Galgo and Sighthounds worldwide.

Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization run entirely by volunteers that was founded to establish a relationship between the animal shelters in Spain and animal lovers in the United States and around the world.  Our love of Greyhounds and concern for their plight drew us to their cousins — the galgos.

Working closely with Spanish shelters, GRIN raises awareness of the Spanish Greyhound's plight through international educational campaigns and fundraising.  We also aid shelters and assist with adoptions for rehomed sighthounds in the U.S. with the primary goals being to provide practical help and supplies to the Spanish shelters and to inspire change in the treatment of the Galgo Espnaõl and the Podenco through public informational and educational campaigns.
